There is something amazing about sitting on a beach, watching the waves crashing, reading a good book, and even more so when that beach is pretty much empty of other tourists. It’s not quite as relaxing when all you can hear over the sound of the waves is children shouting. And we know that no one wants an obstructed view of the beach with huge beach umbrellas lying all around!
Here are some amazing beach destinations where you don’t have to worry about too many other people.
Best Offbeat Beach Destinations
Cíes Islands, Galicia
Spanish beaches are beautiful but often overcrowded with families and other holidaymakers. Thankfully these islands, known to locals as the Galician Caribbean, are a fantastically kept secret. In fact, because the area is protected, there are only 2200 visitors permitted per day.
You can only camp here as there are no hotels here. And, you cannot take your bikes or cars here too. It’s a wonderful paradise with white sandy beaches and stunning views. So, pack your tents and prepare yourself to spend a night under the beautiful starry sky.

Ideal for those who want to spend time enjoying a stunning beach, crystal clear waters and also some culture on the side, Zanzibar should be on your bucket list.
If you fancy an adrenaline rush, there are plenty of activities to do in this place such as swimming with dolphins, sailing or diving, etc. You can also simply relax on the beach and spend your evenings enjoying freshly-caught seafood. But, be sure that your insurance covers any adventurous activities that you decide to do here.
Gokarna, India
We love Gokarna as a more private alternative to places like Goa, which is just as beautiful. Unlike Goa, Gokarna is more clean and peaceful and you can enjoy beaches like Half Moon, Paradise, etc. without fighting with hordes of tourists.
Be sure to enjoy a sunset on Kudle beach as it is so breathtakingly picturesque and will be something that you will remember forever. Om Beach is also a great place to enjoy the sunset and stargaze at the night. After you’ve seen the sunset, head across around 2km to spend the night watching the stars. It is an absolute bliss!
Naxos, Greece

There are a lot of Greek islands that are known for being super popular with tourists. But thankfully, Naxos is still something of a hidden gem! As it’s one of the larger islands, you are spoilt for choice with beautiful beaches.
That’s not all though, this beach also offers opportunities for water sports, horse riding, and you get really incredible food here too! Be sure to try some Kitron, a citrus spirit that is very popular with the locals — not forgetting the Ouzo too, of course. Trust me, Naxos is a place which should definitely be on every beach lover’s bucket list!
Hāmoa Beach, Maui
Finally, a perfect beach destination list without a Hawaiin beach is an incomplete list. Most Hawaiian beaches are beautiful and perfect for your spring break, but as you would imagine they are usually packed with honeymooners and other tourists.
Hāmoa Beach, however, is said to be one of the very best in Maui but isn’t as visited by tourists as often as many of the others. This is perfect to give you a feeling as if you are on a beautiful desert island. So, you can get your Hawaiin vacation feel without having to fight hordes of tourists, making this a perfect beach destination for travelers.
So as you can see, there is no need to settle for squeezing your towel onto the only bit of beach left in a crowd. Or to put up with the constant noise around you. Check out one of these amazing hidden gems and enjoy ultimate tranquility on your own deserted island!
